Hyde Park Savings Bank, Bank of America, Wainwright Bank, Boston Private Bank and Citizens Bank provided the affordable financing to the homebuyers.
Located at the corner of Eustis and Adams Streets in Roxbury, Luma’s housing units are all equipped with "green features" including ENERGY STAR appliances, high-efficiency boilers, high quality/energy efficient insulation and windows, healthy building materials, sun panels (photo-voltaic) for reduced heating and cooling costs, LEED silver certifiable, and low-flow sinks and toilets.
Luma comes as a result of Madison Park Development Corporation’s continued mission to foster the social, physical, economic, and cultural renaissance of the Roxbury community. This project is also a significant part of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s HOPE VI Program to eradicate severely distressed public housing.
On February 1st the final home in MPDC’s Luma housing project was sold. The twenty homes sold within eight months, a tremendous accomplishment in this housing economy. The homes were purchased by families earning less than 80% of area median income and who are first-time homebuyers.
