MPDC is proud to support the growth of youth leaders in our community. Through our youth employment program, 15 young adults are employed during the academic school year. 50 youth leaders will be joining us this summer!
Meet Miles. He is a resident of Roslindale and currently in his junior year at Madison Park High School. In school, Miles excels in the sheet metal program and has already received OSHA 10 Occupational Safety certification! He also enjoys sports and played for Madison Park High School's basketball team as a freshman. When Miles isn't in school he enjoys working and testing out healthy recipes to cook.
Miles is one of the rising stars in MPDC's youth employment program. He's been an active youth worker for two years and truly enjoys being a part of the MPDC family. At MPDC, he's been involved in event coordination, community building, civic engagement, and youth jobs advocacy. His future goals include working in the construction industry and contributing to building more affordable housing in Boston.
Erica Davis, our Youth Leadership & Workforce Organizer, mentors Miles and says, "Youth employment is important; it creates opportunity for youth to connect to mentors, introduces youth to a career path, provides youth with positive alternatives that will help them avoid or escape street life, and instills hope that they can dream big."
