MPDC Kicks Off Community Leadership Training Program

Madison Park Development Corporation will kick off the start of its new community leadership training series on Saturday, June 12th and June 26th 2010. This series is a comprised of workshops based on the National Neighbor=Works curriculum that serves to aid in developing effective leadership skills within members of the community. Participants will have the opportunity to get to know their neighbors while working to create positive change within the community.
 
This spring, the first session takes place on Saturday, June 12th from 9:00am to 1:00pm in the Madison Park Village Community Room, 122 Dewitt Street, Roxbury 02119. This session will focus on building personal leadership skills, including topics such as outreach to get and keep people involved, planning and leading great meetings, public speaking and communications, and more.
 
The second session will take place on Saturday, June 26th from 9:00am to 1:00pm on the 3rd floor of Madison Park Development Corporation at 184 Dudley Street, Roxbury 02119. This session focuses on creating change in the community. Topics will include community organizing, learning about who holds power and how to influence them, and planning & winning actions and campaigns.
 
A certificate of completion will be awarded to those who attend both sessions in addition to being entered into a raffle. All training sessions are free and open to the public. To pre-register for the series, please contact Angela at 617.849.6234 or akelly@madison-park.org.
